Holiday Festivities Kick off This Weekend at RLC; Continue Through December

by Rancho Staff
November 30, 2017

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Rancho Los Cerritos! The historic home has been decorated with period-specific materials, from the fresh evergreen garland along the staircase to the gift boxes in the master bedroom and charity baskets in the food storage room.

Our house tours (Wednesdays through Sunday, 1-5pm, free) will expand to include details about how the holidays were celebrated in 19th-century California. What’s more, RLC is hosting a number of special events to help celebrate the season.
Creation Station ยท Saturday, December 2, 1-4pm
Using a wide variety of colorful materials, children can experiment with old-fashioned arts and crafts. This free, drop-in program takes place rain or shine. Decemberโ€™s theme, Gorgeous Green, celebrates the holiday season. Free.

Old Time Christmas Festival ยท Sunday, December 10, 1-4 p.m.
One of RLC’s largest events of the year, the Old Time Christmas Festival is a can’t-miss family event. A number of craft stations allow children to make one-of-a-kind holiday cards, decorations, and ornaments. Live carolers will entertain the guests and a refreshment station will offer coffee, cider, and cookies. Throughout the afternoon, storytellers will regale families with holiday tales, and a piรฑata in the courtyard will be stuffed with goodies. Santa will be on hand throughout the afternoon. All activities are included in the general admission price of $5 per person. Buy tickets online at rancholoscerritos.org or pay at the door.

Victorian Holiday Tea ยท Tuesday, December 5, 11:00 a.m.
Join us in the sun porch for traditional tea delights served by Victorian characters RLCโ€™s past, tour the festively decorated adobe home, and find hand-made gifts in the Museum Shop. Please note that this event has sold out.

Cocoa with Santa ยท Tuesday, December 12, 4 p.m. ยท Friday, December 15, 4 p.m. ยท Saturday, December 16, 11 a.m.
Children ages 3-10 will enjoy visiting Santa Claus, sipping hot cocoa, making tree orยญnaments, and listening to holiday tales. Weโ€™ve added a third session to help meet demand, but register early: this event always sells out! Please note that this event has sold out.
