Rancho Los Cerritos – 4600 N. Virginia Road, Long Beach, CA 90807
Volunteer for the City Nature Challenge
April 25 – 28, 2025
For four days we are looking at the Rancho through a different lens, one focused upon the natural history of the site.
The LA Natural History Museum and the California Science Center are celebrating the tenth anniversary of this incredible event. This will be the fifth year the Rancho has partnered with the Natural History Museum and the photos that have been taken on site have helped broaden the biodiversity data the project has collected. How do community scientists collect the data? Via camera or cell phone, then upload the image(s) onto the free iNaturalist app to help with identification. Once it is verified, the data collected is shared with scientists anywhere in the world.
What started out ten years ago between LA and San Francisco is now a global event and for the first time ever, every continent will be participating. Here at the Rancho, we invite you to help the Rancho by signing up to collect data. RSVP here.
