Port of Long Beach 20 Years Leading Green

LONG BEACH, California โ€“ The Port of Long Beach awards Rancho Los Cerritos (RLC) a $10,000 sponsorship for a dynamic series of programs in support of its well-received exhibition, Untold Legacies: Rethinking the American Cowboy. This series includes three artist-led workshops and a celebratory Cowboy Festival, designed to honor the partners of the exhibition and share the artistry and culture of cowboys with our community.

โ€œOur intended audience includes visitors of all backgrounds. These programs and events are offered at a low cost to ensure accessibility for all those interested in participating,โ€ commented Alison Bruesehoff, RLC Executive Director. โ€œThe festival also serves as a celebration of Juneteenth and the contributions of our exhibit partners, further deepening community connections and cultural appreciation.โ€

Artist workshops are designed for individuals aged 13 and older, students, and anyone interested in history and contemporary art. These hands-on workshops are thoughtfully designed to enrich the experience for participants. The Cowboy Festival will be geared towards audiences of all ages. โ€œThrough a partnership with nonprofit Urban Saddles, we are broadening our reach to include their audience, visitors from inner-city Los Angeles, and guests who might not otherwise have known about the Rancho,โ€ stated Bruesehoff.

The mission of RLC, a recognized National, State and Local Historic Landmark is to, honor diverse perspectives, enrich collaborative conversations, and inspire broader understanding through stewardship of Rancho Los Cerritosโ€™ natural and cultural history. With a vision to cultivate an inclusive and sustainable world by exploring the historical connections between people and Rancho Los Cerritos the site welcomes visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

โ€œOn behalf of Rancho Los Cerritos I am enormously grateful to the Port of Long Beach for their sponsorship support,โ€ said Bruesehoff. โ€œTheir continued partnership helps us engage the community and share these important stories that have shaped our history with the communities of Long Beach and beyond.โ€
