The Story of Rancho Los Cerritos

Rancho Los Cerritos (RLC) is a historic home and gardens, located in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, California. This region has been the home of the Gabrielino-Tongva people for over 5,000 years. Beginning in the mid-19th century, this unique two-story adobe house served as the headquarters for a cattle ranch and a sheep ranch, an apartment building, and a private family residence. The site is now recognized as a Local, State, and National Historic Landmark. Today, RLC is a nonprofit museum that provides educational programming, engaging exhibitions, community events, and historic interpretation.

Whether you are visiting virtually or in person, we hope that you feel connected to the history of Rancho Los Cerritos and the many people who have lived on this land.
